Is A Deposit Taken?
To reserve a room a deposit is taken.
What is the Amount of Deposit?
The deposit is equal to half the total or 1 night stay whichever is greater.
How Long Do I Have to Cancel?
You have until up until 14 days before your stay to cancel your reservation and receive a refund of your deposit minus a $25.00 transaction fee. Cancellations beyond the 14 days are not entitled to a refund.
Do You Ever Charge a Non Refundable Deposit?

Yes. Reservations made 14 days or less in advance of the stay incur a nonrefundable deposit. If a reservation was made through a 3rd party travel agency, the reservation must be cancelled by the agent. Reservations made through a travel agent may incur a non-refundable deposit regardless of when made.

The guest owes the full reservation amount for any reservation that has commenced and has not been canceled.

Reserving a room constitutes expressed consent and agreement by the guest to all of the reservation policies stated on this page and or as amended.

Gift Certificates

The Cancellation Policy applies to Gift Certificates issued by Windward Inn.
For gift certificates issued by third parties the deposit is always non-refundable regardless of when made.

Non-Smoking policy: There is no smoking permitted anywhere on the premises, either within the rooms and buildings, or on the grounds. The word smoking as used herein shall be construed to mean the burning of any substance whether for aromatic, cooking purposes or for any purpose including but not limited to candles, cigarettes and or cigars. The guest agrees that due to the fact that it is impossible or impracticable to the calculate the actual damage done by smoking including damage to the marketability of the room, lost revenue, and costs incurred to abate odors discoloration and the imitation by others of the guests smoking behavior, and further, in consideration for being permitted to stay at the inn, all guests accept and agree as a precondition that if they smoke anywhere on the premises, in exchange for smoking against our policy, the guest shall owe the greater of a charge of $300 plus one night’s room rental or the actual cost of abatement of smoke and or odor damage. The guests agree that the opinion of the innkeeper and or housekeeper as to whether or not a guest smoked in the room without having been seen smoking, will be sufficient to establish the fact that the guest smoked, and incurred the penalty. The penalty may be charged on the guests’ credit card by the inn.

Refund of Deposit Depends on How Far In Advance You Made the Reservation

In consideration of Windward House taking the reserved room off of the market the guest agrees to the following reservation policy. Making a reservation and or tendering the room deposit is the guest’s assent to all Windward House policies including pet, non-smoking, and reservation deposit as set forth on this page.

Cancellation

A cancellation is effected by notice to the innkeepers. Notice is not effective unless it has been given via telephone to the innkeeper directly, and same has been acknowledged by the innkeeper to the guest via email. No reservation may be canceled by voicemail message, email or facsimile transmission, or any method other than described. Any reservation made constitutes acceptance of all the bed & breakfast’s policies. Travel insurance can be purchased from third parties to insure the cost of your trip in the event it must be canceled outside the cancellation period due to circumstances outside of your control.

Room Reservation Deposit

To confirm a reservation and reserve a room, a deposit of one night’s lodging cost or 50% of the entire reservation cost, whichever is greater, is due at the time of booking per room reserved. The deposit is applied to room charges, and the balance is due upon arrival prior to check-in. We accept cash payment, Visa, Mastercard or Discover.

All rates listed are per night, single or double occupancy, and are subject to Maine’s lodging tax. Additional persons (when the room allows and at the Innkeeper’s discretion) are $50 per person, per night. Prime season weekend reservations may require a two-night minimum stay. Certain holiday and or conference event periods require a two or three-night minimum stay. Please call to check specific availability.

 

Check In and Check Out Times

Check in is at 3PM and check out is at 11am. We are a small staff, and in order to provide the best possible experience for our guests late check in is not advised and in some cases may result in forfeiture of deposit and registration as a guest at Windward House.

Please call and let us know if you are checking in after 4PM so that we may be prepared for your arrival. Typically it is difficult to accommodate check ins or guest registration beyond 9PM EST. If you cannot arrive before 9PM EST then you may have forfeited your room rate for the evening. If you anticipate arriving after 9PM EST it is recommended that you make alternative arrangements for your sleeping accommodations that evening.

The hotel may accept packages on behalf of guests at the hotel’s sole discretion. The hotel shall not be liable for the value of any package accepted on behalf of the guest.

This hotel does not accept money orders or personal checks. A valid credit card or check is required at check-in for the payment of the room, tax, and incidentals. Credit cards may be authorized for 20% of the room and taxes per night to guaranty incidental charges and or indemnity.

For payment arrangements to a third-party credit card, please contact the hotel’s reservation department at least 72 hours prior to guest’s arrival. Contact Kristen Bifulco Monday  through Friday at 877-492-9656. The third party must sign and forward to the hotel a third party authorization to charge credit card.

The full balance remaining of the reservation room rental is due and payable prior to check-in. Debit and Credit cards may be authorized at check-in for an amount to cover incidentals. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged. Authorized amounts may take up to 30 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel will not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges.

Guests grant Windward House the a non-exclusive right to publish or republish any statements or images published by the guest about the inn including but not limited to guest reviews.

Guests are liable for the replacement cost of any property and or repair cost of the property damaged or removed by either them or their guests, invitees, delivery persons, vendors, consultants or licensees and indemnify the hotel for same.
