The Sweet Chariot Music Festival, for the first time on the mainland, at the Camden Farmers Fare, and the Snowbowl, although most of the events are on Islands.
Except for the Dance Party at Farmers Fare in Rockport, Friday, Aug. 6th, & the big, mainland Concert at the Snow Bowl in Camden, Saturday, Aug. 7th, all events are on coastal islands, Swan’s Island and Vinalhaven – and the island shows have a limited number of reservations!
This event’s promoters state that one of the fun things about it is getting there. If you’re a fan of the Islands, Swan’s Island and Vinlhaven, and love great music, this concert event is for you. And for Camden and Rockport fans, there are now two events on the mainland, in Camden and Rockport. To get to the island events you need to take a boat. State of Maine Ferry Service to Swan’s Island and Vinalhaven, although neither run at night (this ain’t your Staten Island-type ferry) so if you don’t have overnight accomodations, you haven’t planned it right. The event’s promoters warn that you should not plan on coming and “camping somewhere”. They suggest sleeping on a boat, or seeing the Camden events and staying in beautiful downtown Camden Village!
