Swearing In Ceremony, Portland Maine

The Camden Windward House has been a Bed and Breakfast for over 20 years. Before it was a Bed and breakfast it was a rooming house for fisherman. The Inn has a long lodging history. Check this post for a little more information on the house..
Kristen & Jesse Bifulco, the current innkeeper/owners moved into the Windward House in August of 2005. Originally from Staten Island New York, they were raising their children in a suburb of Metropolitan NY when they decided they wanted to commute less, enjoy their children more, and slow down their hectic-paced lives, and move to a small town. After searching out places along the East Coast, they found that they felt the most comfortable here in Camden Maine, “where the mountains meet the sea”.

When people ask why they would give up a successful law practice and a big house in the suburbs, they say: “We wish to instill our children with values that to us are more important than money, and also give them the opportunity for the kind of childhood only a place like Maine can give. We felt that it was apt that we begin our little American lifestyle experiment in a greek revival temple style house, in a small town surrounded by the natural beauty of coastal Maine.

Our “company” (Perseid Corp) is a family – a mother a father and three little ones. From the beginning of our married lives together we have tried to do things in a way that set precedents for our values as married people. And for us innkeeping means living and working as a family. We feel that our lifestyle choice resonates with a nostalgic honor for the very best intentions of our country’s beginning, romance and old fashioned values, enlightened by our humble thanks for all of our guests.

Kristi likes to think her stay-at-home mom job prepared her for the Innkeeper lifestyle. They are enjoying living in beautiful 1854 Greek Rival house on the Coast of Maine with a very short commute to work, down the stairs. No traffic there.
