Personal Growth Vacations

camden-maine-another_6_high

More and more travelers, couples, individual women and men, retirees, families are looking for vacations where they can do more than ride the rides, they want an experience that expands them as persons. For these people a personal challenge in the form of acquiring a new skill, developing an innate talent, overcoming a fear, or just learning a little about a wonderful place or an artistic tradition enhances the other vacation activities of doing nothing, eating good food, and laughing with friends and family. We call this personal growth travel, and the Camden Maine area is the perfect personal growth travel destination. From furniture craftsmanship, to crewing on a schooner, from a photographic or film making workshop to touring a local cheese factory, farms, crafts, pottery, jewelry making, ship building, wooden boat building, wine making, liquor making, honey making, traditional craft making, rock climbing, hiking, sailing, camping, fishing, yoga, meditation, all of these activities which qualify as personal growth activities are right here. Camden is not just a really great little New England fishing village, it is a place full of learning opportunities. So not only do we have world class gourmet cuisine from local farms and fresh seafood, galleries, museums, world class music festivals, arts and entertainment, but an environment is the perfect destination for travelers who wish to use their time away to learn, achieve, develop the self, enjoy nature, escape from the pressures of ordinary life, indulge in a little physical activity, build a relationship, where you can come and stay, and leave a bigger person….. That’s what being a personal growth travel destination is all about, that’s what Camden is all about.

Glider Rides

Spirit Soaring Glider Rides: What Could Be More Adventurous Than flying?
I went with Dave on one of these trips, and it was amazing. The glider is such a different experience from a regular airplane. You really feel like you are flying.
Imagine soaring like a bird, gliding on air currents and having the kind of spectacular views of the islands of midcoast Maine, Penobscot Bay and the coast from Bar Harbor to Wiscasset, with Mt. Katahdin , Mt. Washington, and Sugarloaf Mt. in the distance that only birds usually enjoy.

The spiritsouring pilots, Dave Miramant & Steve Larmore with a combined total of over 25,000 flight hours have been at it for over thirty years. There’s one trip where you can even take the controls! Feel like a kid on a roller coaster for the first time, experience breath-taking views of Maine’s unique coastline and a fantastic display of color and geography.

TAKE A HIKE THIS SUMMER

CAMDEN WINDWARD HOUSE BED AND BREAKFAST JOINS WITH COASTAL MOUNTAIN LAND TRUST IN HELPING YOU TAKE A HIKE!

Camden Maine is a fantastic coastal village where you can park your car and go hiking. The Coastal Mountain Land Trust, since 1986, has preserved more than 7,800 acres of hikable land in the Mid Coast of Maine. New this summer, the Land Trust introduces The Take A Hike program. This program offers hiking suggestions from easy with a gradual climb to strenuous. There is a hiking option for all levels of wayfarers.

Views on the hikes offer opportunities to see historic sod roofed houses, organic blueberry fields, majestic lakes and unforgettable seascapes.

The program suggests 3 easy steps to taking a hike:
1. Pick your hike
2. Hop in your car or call a taxi
3. Lace up your walking shoes and enjoy.

The Camden Windward House Bed and Breakfast will provide you with all trail maps and a relaxing place to come back, nap and take a shower. The Camden Windward House offers several Soft Adventure packages and considers this area program a great addition to the Soft adventure options of the Mid Coast. Innkeeper Kristen Bifulco stated, “This organized hiking program is the missing link to the already established mid coast adventure activities.”
