Sheperd’s Pie Restaurant

shepherds-pie-500x333

We Love Sheperd’s Pie. This loveley little restaurant is the second for chef Brian Hill. Brian has Francine’s Bistro in the downtown of Camden Maine. Sheperd’s Pie is in Rockport, only about 2 miles from our bed and breakfast. I like this place becuase the menu is easy and comfort food. I love the ribs, Jes loves than hamburger. You will see lots of locals here. The bar is great and the view from the back of the restaurant over Rockport Harbor is perfect. I like to even bring my kids. The kitchen is open so you can watch the cooks at work. the kids like it, better than tv. Here is a link to their facebook page and menu. This restaurant is along the “most Beautiful Walk in the World” route. Highly recommended if you are in town.  http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/shepherds-pie/our-menu/156595567723216

Waterfront Restaurant

The Waterfront Restaurant is a wonderful casual restaurant in downtown Camden Maine. I enjoy sitting on the deck looking for harbor seals while I am here. The restaurant is big, a better chance of getting a seat during the high season. The food is good, it is not gourmet, but casual. I enoy the hamburgers and the salads. The do lobster very well also. There is a nice big bar area if you just want to have a cocktail. Alot of locals hang out at Waterfront. This place is not organic or green, but the owner is very nice and contributes to the community.

Moon Suppers & Sunday Suppers of Maine

Just North of Camden , in Lincolnville, a new farm has established itself as a new culinary destination. You can make a reservation to go be apart of a group dinner  once a month. Moon Suppers: occurs on a Monday, which translates in Old English to Moon Day. The cook takes advantage of the seasonal and local ingrediants. The evening begins with an amuse bouche, followed by four courses. Each Moon Supper is $50 per person, with a recommended tip of $10 for the server. The farm does not have a liquor license and you can bring your own drink. There are only 20 seats available, so please make a reservation well ahead of time to reserve a place. The Camden Windward House is only 15 minutes from the farm and can arrange a dinner for you. I recommend this for guests that have been here before and have already enjoyed all the local restaurants. This is a new and fun idea. The supper is at Salt Water Farm – Lincolnville

Camden Deli

37 Main Street Camden

For the best lobster roll in Camden, go to the Camden Deli. They have home baked deserts, great deli sandwiches, and home made soups and chowder, all served in a comfortable atmosphere with a great view of the harbor. They have lounge seating upstairs and serve cold draft beer. Upstairs is also a great outside deck where you can sit and enjoy a panoramic view of Camden Harbor. The Camden Deli is a local favorite. The views from down stairs and upstairs are wonderful in any season. The deli uses Boars Head meats in its sandwiches, many of which are named for local attractions. If you plan on a picnic, stop by the Camden Deli first, you won’t be disappointed. Great to take a sandwich out with you on a boat or on a hike. The Camden Windward House now offers room service with the Camden Deli. Call from the house phone to have a meal delivered to your room. http://www.camdendeli.com/

Atlantica Restaurant

atlantica

Atlantica is one of our favorites. Chef owned with great attention to the detail. They have a new bistro menu in addition to their usual dinner menu and both options are great. Lobster stew, fresh seafood entrees and the lobster mashed potatoes are really terrific. They have an upstairs room and a nice deck on the water. It is comfortable and tastefully decorated and the service is impeccable.
Atlantica is a wonderful Restaurant right on the waters edge. I have seen the menu change from year to year, Ken the chef, is a master of giving the people what they want. Innkeepers recommend that this be one of your nightly dinners while in Camden. You may need reservations, which the Innkeeper would be more than happy to make for you, and if you are making a reservation , try to get a seating on the deck outside.

Peter Ott’s

c18

Peter Ott’s is a nice downtown restaurant. Vegetarians really enjoy this option. They have a nice salad bar and try to accomodate everyone. The make a nice Squash Ravioli and Crab cakes. The crowd at night is young and local.

Francine’s Bistro

Francine’s is a great little Bistro. You need reservations for this resaurant during the Summer. Make a reservation when you book your room at Windward House, the Innkeeper can make it for you at time of reservation if you wish. This restaurant is a local favorite. It is off the main road. Brian Hill (the owner) is a popular chef in the midcoast. You can sit at the bar without a resevation and is a nice alternative if you cannot get a reservation.

Elm Street Grill

Elm Street Grill is a good family restaurant that serves traditional menu items and good pizza. The restaurant is not in the downtown of Camden but in the Ceder Crest Inn on Rt 1. It is not far from the downtown and is a local favorite, the price is right and the salad bar is good.  The Band All That Jazz plays on the weekends at the Grill and is alot of fun to see. The group can play almost any song you ask them. Pizza here is good quality.

Cappys Chowder House

Everyone ends up at Cappy’s. Cappy’s is a fun little pub in the downtown of Camden Maine. The food is good and the beer is cold. Cappy’s has a fun pub upstairs that not many people know about, it is the Crows Nest. It is a fun place to bring the wedding party back to when the wedding venue closes.
