We love staying at B&B’s when we are on vacation, but we’ve also found ourselves skipping the breakfast part of the B when it was just one thing and it wasn’t something we wanted, or it was a cold continental affair, or the innkeepers didn’t drink coffee, so the coffee just wasn’t that great. While you can’t please all tastes, we have tried to remedy those shortfalls by offering locally roasted fresh organic free trade coffee -, we get compliments all the time. We also give you a menu – the only Bed and Breakfast in Camden Maine to offer a menu for breakfast. And it’s hot! We offer grains and other nutritious non cooked offerings, but also cooked to order traditional American breakfast fare – with the twist-, it will taste better than most because we only use organic ingredients. Real farm raised stuff just tastes better, and you won’t have to wonder if you’re doing the right thing.

A full menu breakfast – made to order is included with your room. Windward House is the only B&B in Camden that offers a complimentary menu breakfast. Breakfast – as much or as little as you like. Just thought I’d let you know that we were out skating on Hosmer Pond yesterday
(Tuesday afternoon Jan. 3) and this morning (Wednesday Jan. 4) and the
conditions there are TERRIFIC – 4-5” of ice, wonderful smooth skating. There is
open water at the outlet of the creeks (ie the creek that runs along the side
of the drive up to the pond edge (ie, don’t skate towards the toboggan chute
from the put-in), and the one over by Molyneaux Road and also along the edge
in a few places, but the whole pond otherwise is great. Catch the breeze right
and you can cruise the length of the pond from the put-in just by standing
still! But dress warmly for the skate back upwind!
A bald eagle has been hanging out, flying over or standing on the ice pecking at
goodies or hoping for cast-off bait from the ice fishermen.

Of course, always wear self-rescue devices when skating on ponds; be conscious of

Jack and I drove through Camden two years ago on our way
from Bar Harbor to CT and vowed we would have to come back to this beautiful
town. So here we are at the wonderful Windward House celebrating our 30^th
anniversary. Kristen’s cookies are awesome and I can’t get enough of that
delicious Maine Lobster. We will be back!!
