Windward House B&B Circa 1854

Windward House is Maine
This lovely example of an ell shaped Greek Revival style house so characteristic of classic New England, has stood on this spot here at the top of the hill just one block north of the center of Camden Village diagonally across the street from Camden Harbor Park with its broad lawns, walkways and public benches overlooking the busy harbor since 1854.
That’s when Elijah Glover, a prominent local lumberman and ship builder had his shipwrights build this spacious Victorian with Greek revival features as his home located on a large city lot up on the hill overlooking (at the time) the harbor to the south-east and the village center to the south.
Through the years, a number of different families lived in the house and by the mid 1920’s, the house began to be used as a lodging facility. During it’s “lodging facility lifetime” it has been a rooming house, apartment house, and in the more recent past has been a bed and breakfast inn with continuously improving accommodations serving guests who are visiting what we sincerely believe is the nicest place to visit in Maine — Camden Village– “The Jewel of the Maine Coast”– Where the “Mountains Meet the Sea!”
