COLORS OF CAMDEN MAINE
Maritime Fall Foliage & Event Calendar make Camden Maine a unique New England Fall Vacation.

The fantastic spectacle that is the maritime fall foliage, the lush mountains and calm ocean set Maine fall foliage apart from other New England foliage experiences. Camden Maine Innkeeper, Kristen Bifulco, stated “guests call us in January and ask when the leaves are going to change, visitors look forward to Camden’s Fall foliage all year round.”
The Colors of Camden, like an antique New England quilt formed by the meeting of Camden Harbor, Beauchamp Point, Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills whether viewed from the air, aboard a scenic helicopter tour, the peak of Mt. Battie, Maiden’s cliff, aboard a Historic Schooner, or the lawn of the Camden Public Library, are breathtaking. Each aspect of land, mountain, sea and sky form a unique patch in this harmonious whole of the natural beauty of Autumn: deep ocean blue and light sky blue mingle with wispy white clouds, and the deep reds of sugar Maples veined with the vibrant gold and yellow of beeches, birches, elms, and green and black ash, and the rust and amber of oaks. The backdrop of Windjammer sails and American Bald Eagles in addition to leaves and trees, make Camden Maine a unique Fall experience.

In addition to the inherently economical fun of leaf peeping, Camden has lots of local events that are worth taking that scenic Rt1 trip up the coast to enjoy. Fall events are for the sophisticated movie buffs, boat lovers, cutting edge leaders and wine aficionados.
For those that want to see Camden fall foliage from the sky, Spirit Soaring Glider Rides http://www.spiritsoaring.org/   is a great choice.
To see the foliage from the sea: Schooner Olad, Schooner Surprise and Schooner Heron offer great harbor views.

Schooner Olad Sandwich at Camden Deli

March 14, 2009 by Kristen · Leave a Comment

Last week was fun with champagne and Irish Music, I was so moved by the Irish music that I became reminiscent of the past and have been practicing Irish dancing. I was a Staten Ireland Dancer in Staten Island New York for about 8 years. I signed up to teach an after school enrichment program here in Camden Maine about Irish step dancing to 2nd and 3rd graders. My daughter says no one is going to be interested. I told my daughter that I didn’t care because even if no one came, I would be dancing in the school cafeteria by myself and that would be fun.
The Irish Dancing is not the only thing I am excited about this week,  this week I became privy to the Camden Deli new menu ideas. The Camden Deli is my favorite lunch place. Tom and Angela (Owners) have a wonderful spot right over the waterfall and the best view in Camden. They use Boars Head products for their sandwiches and do a great job! I was excited to find out that the Camden Deli summer 2009 new menu will include sandwiches named after local boats. Angela was so excited about the Schooner Olad Sandwich. The Schooner Olad Sandwich will be: Sour Dough Bread, Mustard, and Cheddar cheese, grilled onions, roasted red peppers, sliced chicken breast all grilled together.  Sounds delicious. I wonder if Captain Aaron of the Olad knows about this dedication.  I am sure he will be thrilled. You can sit by the big picture window or deck and eat an Olad sandwich as you watch the Olad set sail on the Penobscot Bay.

Schooner Olad

Schooner Olad is a wonderful sail boat that takes guests out for tours of the Penobscot Bay. Schooner Olad has a wonderful Maine Captain – Aaron Lincoln. Schooner Olad is great for the 2 hour tour or for corporate or wedding functions. Schooner Olad is 1 block from the Camden Windward House. A Schooner ride is a great addition to your Camden stay.
