FAQ’s

What is your cancellation or no-show policy?

You may cancel up to 14 days prior to your stay and receive a refund of your deposit minus a $25.00 transaction fee. Cancellations made less than 14 days of your stay will not be entitled to a refund.  A no-show will not be entitled to a refund.

Is there a minimum age to make a reservation?

Yes; 18 years or older. You will also need a valid photo ID and a credit card to hold the room.

How far are you to town?

We are less than a five minute walk to Dowtown Camden.

Can we have access to the kitchen?

No.  The kitchen is for employees only.

Do you have hi-speed Internet?

Yes, we have high speed wireless internet throughout the entire property.

Well-behaved children are always welcome, however, as with any additional guest, only the Quarterdeck, Chart Room and Windrose Suite can accommodate more than double occupancy.  Even if the child is an infant or a toddler and you will be bringing your own crib, they are not allowed in any room except for the Quarterdeck, Chart Room or Windrose Suite. Any additional child in those three rooms (Quarterdeck, Chart Room or Windrose Suite) will be charged an additional $50/day for each child over the 2-person occupancy.

If you book any room that does not allow children over the double occupancy limit (Harbor Carriage, Coastal Garden, Brass Room, Elijah Glover, Crows Nest King, Crows Nest Queen) and you arrive for your stay with a child of any age, we will cancel your reservation and you will be responsible for the full amount of your stay.

Can we bring our pets with us?

While we love pets, pets are not permitted at Camden Windward House.

Can we smoke?

Windward House is a non-smoking/no-flame property.  There is no smoking or flames permitted anywhere on the premises, either within the rooms and buildings, or on the grounds. If any evidence is found of any type (odor or visual) of flame or smoking, the guest will be responsible for paying $300 plus one night’s room rental fee and/or the cost of abatement of flame and/or smoking damage. This is agreed to in the terms and policies, by the guest, at time of reservation.

Is pot/marijuana legal in Maine?

We get this question a lot from guests, so we figured we’d answer it here. Take a look at this FAQ to get all the info you need.

How close can we fly to your inn, and what about a rental car?

Major airlines fly into Portland International Jetport (85 miles south) and Bangor International Airport (65 miles north). Daily commercial air service is also available to Knox County Airport, at Owls Head in Rockland, Maine (15 miles south). Car rentals are available at all three airports. Where can I get groceries and supplies?

Hannaford Supermarket is a 5 minute drive from Camden Windward House.  There is also a Walgreens in town.

Will we have to share a bathroom with strangers?

No sharing here!  Every room has its own en-suite.

What can I expect the weather to be like when we’re there?

Is an advanced deposit required before we arrive?

A deposit of one night’s lodging cost or 50% of the entire reservation cost, whichever is greater, is due at the time of booking per room reserved. The deposit is applied to room charges, and the balance is due upon arrival prior to check-in.

Is there parking?

Yes!  Depending on which room you are staying in, you will either be parked in the front driveway or the parking lot in the back.

I see that you have a fire pit on property. What are the hours that it is lit?

We light the fire pit at dusk and shut it down at 10 PM sharp (fire pit is lit in-season only). The noise ordinance in town is 10 PM and we abide by those rules! You can be rest assured that the fire pit will not affect your stay with us if your room should face it.

In case of a medical emergency, where would we go?
